I was born to teenage parents in Orange mound Memphis, Tennessee. My Mom was 16 Dad was 19 when I was born. My Parents didn't stay together long after I was born. Fast forward 4 years 3 months my mother met, married, and gave birth to my younger sister. My mom and my sister's dad argued and sometimes fought a lot. They broke up after roughly 2 years. I later saw my mother being shot by her estranged husband. She was shot 5 times, including one bullet in the head. By the grace of God she survived, I was only 8 years old when I witnessed this. And that's just half of my childhood I have to unpack. Lately, I have been embracing my insecurities and working on my faults which has not been easy, but it has been oddly empowering.
