Why Respira

The story of how I started my relationship with lady anxiety earlier this year has already started to get written in my head, but I’ll save that for a future post. But since we are now here, together, on respira .love - something for which I deeply appreciate you, let me start my journey in this new channel by giving some context for the naming and the direction this is going forward. I have to start with this quote from George Bernard Shaw as recited by Jeff Goldblum on a talk show . “This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life i...

I wrote this article 2 years ago on Medium . I still believe in most of the items I put on the list and it feels good to observe that there are quite a few that I no longer struggle with. Posting it here as it’s a new beginning and I would like to keep this list habit every year, maybe make it even more granular. Observing the layers that compose the answer to the ever-present self-inquiry as a 40-year-old man, lover, husband, father, friend, and professional. * Friendship is important, rewarding, and therapeutic. Witnessing each other’s growth, lows and highs makes me land in my body. I’m determined to dedicate more time to cultivating my friendships. * Parents never leave even after they have transitioned, they are ever present in those moments when I expect a call from them or know I should call. They are ever-present in the small gestures or thought patterns and also when I try to forget a childhood memory. It is nourishing to reconnect once every so often with their peaceful guidance....

This seems like a good moment to publish a first post on Respira , a collection of stories, ideas, and concepts that I bookmark for myself, my children, and whoever else resonates. I’ve always loved to curate stuff and to bring people together but I am just discovering that now as I am starting to pay more and more attention to myself, something that I’ve gracefully managed to run away from in the last years by telling myself that I have much more important things to do, like making a living, earning enough to afford the lifestyle we want as a family, etc… If you’re reading this you have probably subscribed to this newsletter since before it ever existed, since recommended it in his, at some point. Thank you for being here and allowing me to (re)start my own journey, a man’s journey towards the sovereignty and clarity of the Heart. I can see how writing can be a good form of therapy and I am excited for this new chapter of this journey. I remember once writing in a notebook something a...
