Episode 002 - Hikikimori

In this episode, I discuss a social issue that is gripping Japan: the hikikimori (aka "unmarried, unemployed Japanese men under 30 who have no social life and live with their mums"). These men, through no fault of their own, have become a social paraia/recluse/hermit. Now, due to cultural sensitivities, please do not share this podcast with anyone who is actually going through this phase of his life. That would be immoral, insensitive and unfair. Instead, please have a listen to my advice on how to solve this social problem, through mindfulness strategies, apps & games, social and emotional support, and workshops, social groups & Shinto practices. Thank you.

Sci-fi novel about a robot

In this podcast, I discuss my idea for a novel I am writing about a robot who comes to Earth with a message from an advanced civilisation. However, he comes to learn that human beings are a lot different from what he was expecting. He comes to learn about art, music, culture and family. They don't have these things where he comes from. He comes from a land of metal machinery and industrial efficiency. He does not know what rice pudding is or how to bake a cake. So, a group of scientists and artists teach the robot what it means to be human and how we work together as a society and love each other. And he comes to understand what family is, what love is, and why taking a break and enjoying yourself is more important than efficiency.
