Braving Business with Steph Sheldon

You know how (from the outside) building a business and chasing that dream seems all about being constantly inspired and looking killer on Instagram? Cool, so you take the leap and announce that you’re going solo. You’re officially a #boss. But then, wait, it doesn’t seem to be about actual business anymore, but instead, it’s about being more confident and continuously putting in the work even when you aren’t seeing those immediate results. The thing is- being successful in your own business is about becoming the best version of YOU-not merely learning about spreadsheets and launching cool products. This realization ends up being the reason most people quit (or fail to start in the first place). So if you’ve got the grit, the hustle, the passion and the commitment to live your best life and build your best biz, then Braving Business is for you. Join our host, Cleveland Flea Founder, Steph Sheldon as she shares the ups and downs, the tips and tricks, the successes and failures and the tragedy and comedy of running and growing a creative business, in our podcast Braving Business.

Content Confidence

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs. Today I’m sharing another conversation with my friend and fellow business owner, Meg of Six Figs Coaching. I helped her get back her creative spirit this year, and my work with her inspired me to create a new content coaching program I’m launching on January 15. On today’s episode we talk about her transformation from hating creating content to being so in love with creating content that what she writes, posts and creates brings her both purpose in the world AND business success. This program is for you if you own a business, or want to start a business and your content / niche / website / copywriting never seems to really capture who you are, how you feel and what you do. You don’t need someone to build a website for you (though you can certainly hire someone for that), you need to see what thoughts are standing in the wa...

Transitioning Your Business Identity

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs. Today’s episode is about allowing yourself to transition to your next professional self. As we grow and evolve as business owners, we often need to embrace a new identity to get us to a new goal. And our brains will most likely try to convince us to stay. Allowing yourself to grow will require you redefine where you spend your time and energy. It’ll also most likely require you to redefine your relationship to work, customers, clients, team and yourself. Doing everything yourself saves money and time–at the very beginning. But quite soon after you begin a business, it also takes away more money and time than it saves. Your brain will most likely freak out when you begin to redefine your existing self into a new version. Here’s how you can manage that and evolve with confidence! Thanks for joining!

Setting Up A Quarterly Content Calendar

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs. Today’s episode is about what you’ll gain from planning your sales + instagram content 3 per quarter, versus daily or weekly. Planning your content for an entire quarter (3 months) can seem daunting–who has time for that? But I think that you actually waste more time (and energy) stressing out about what to post on the daily instead of deciding ahead of time. Thanks for joining! And if you’re like me and want to skip to planning your 2021–join me for a 2-hour workshop on October 24th where we’ll do just that. We’ll outline the first 3 months (the first quarter) of 2021 so you can get a jump start on thinking about the dreamy future (and putting 2020 behind you once and for all).
Why You're Not Pushing Publish

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups, and social entrepreneurs. Today’s episode is about why I think you’re not pushing publish AND how you can correct that. I have this theory that if you actually had: content you + your dream clients LOVED (photos + words) a plan that directly linked that content to money for you that you would post more. It’s sort of as simple as that. Most of my clients do not like social media and marketing because they do not have content that accurately represents who they are and who they’re for AND they’re doing it randomly and not linking it to a sales plan. We can fix that. Let’s find out more about what good content can do for you. Thanks for joining! And if you’re like me and want to skip to planning your 2021–join me for a 2-hour workshop on October 24th where we’ll do just that.
Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups, and social entrepreneurs. Today we are talking about a concept called 'your emotional home.'
A More Creative Way To Write A Business Plan

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs. I find that the creative and purpose-based types resist writing business plans for a few reasons: they don’t enjoy the process they have decision fatigue they have analysis paralysis they are confused until they just give up they think there is a universal business plan out there that they have to do ‘right’ they don’t know how to create drafts that adjust as they adjust So, when I work with clients, I do something totally different. I listen to their stories and their dreams. Their goals and why they’re excited. THAT is what I use to build my Visual Business Plans. Here’s what it accomplishes: It builds off of my clients’ natural energy It highlights their uniqueness within the industry It makes the future clear (and bright) It helps them take intentional action (that they like taking) ...
