At this point Esther has made the decision to approach the King without being summoned which could cost Esther her life. In approaching the King, Esther shows great respect and great patience in waiting for the best opportunity to plead her case to the King on behalf of the Jews.As we'll see in chapter 6, God was ever working behind the scenes to work through Esther's obedience. Esther however had no idea what would result would come from her patience in pleading her case before the King yet she remained patient all the same. Christians today have even more reason to display patience after the likeness of Christ who showed great restraint and obedience to the Father in not sinning nor reviling when beaten nor seeking a quick end to his painful death. Esther chapter 4 is the hinge point of the book of Esther. In my opinion it's the best chapter of the book. This study was my favorite so far. In this chapter we discuss how Esther experienced a crisis moment in her life that caused her to rediscover God. Was she going to risk her comfortable lifestyle by revealing her Jewish heritage? This is the issue we face often as believers in Christ. Will we risk our position in the world by identifying with Christ or are we going to remain quiet and keep our comfortable position even though doing so brings it's own risks. Is it just a coincidence that the decree to kill all Jews was delivered on the eve of Passover?
